Security

The sector at a glance

Physical and corporate security is the business of protecting people, property and operations with officers, systems and monitoring — contract guarding and mobile patrol, alarm installation and 24/7 central-station monitoring, access control, video surveillance and the systems integration that ties them together. It is not information security: the cyber discipline is a separate market with separate buyers, and this cluster stays on the physical side. The market is layered — national guarding firms sell labor by the hour, alarm dealers and monitoring centers sell recurring monthly revenue, and integrators sell projects plus service contracts — and in Texas every one of those layers sits behind a state license. Buyers are facility and property managers, corporate security directors, risk and HR executives, retail and multifamily operators, school and hospital administrators and event producers, and they buy against liability exposure, insurance requirements, incident history and headcount cost rather than against technology for its own sake. Austin is the anchor market: the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau that licenses this entire industry statewide is headquartered here, and a dense downtown, a large multifamily pipeline, a heavy event calendar and a fast-growing corporate campus base all generate demand.
